IONM has been shown to provide a quick, continuous feedback loop around the patient during a surgical procedure. This allows for an immediate change in the surgical approach in the event of a change in the patient’s neurophysiologic state resulting in improved post-operative care and a shorter recovery. Technical competence is a given with ANM but effective communication between the technologist and surgeon is critically important to us.
